What playing this feels like

This shrinks the crossword down to something that fits in one glance. The grid is small, the answers are short, and most clues are pictures rather than sentences, so play starts without reading any instructions first.

The way to make progress is to fill the answers you are surest of first and treat the letters they leave behind as clues for the words crossing them. A small grid helps here: any single answer usually intersects two or three others, so one correct entry opens several at once.

Approachable as it is, nothing supplies the words for you — there are no multiple choices to tap through. That makes it perfectly reasonable for an adult wanting something light during a break, without the feeling of playing somebody else's game.
