What playing this feels like
Great Air Battles is built around missions, and each one runs noticeably longer than the usual plane shooter. A sweep through small formations, a short breather, then something large at the end that soaks up several magazines before it goes down.
That structure gives resource management some weight. Pickups dropping mid-mission are not always free — a few of them float along a line that costs a hit or two to reach. The recurring question is whether to arrive at the closing fight in good shape, or to trade condition now for firepower that ends the fight sooner. By the halfway point the two approaches produce visibly different runs.
Set against the short-round shooters on the same shelf, this one asks for a longer stretch of attention: it suits sitting down properly rather than grabbing two minutes while waiting for something. The trade is worth it, since finishing a mission lands harder than clearing another wave, and the next one opens on a different scene instead of repeating the last.
