What playing this feels like
This edition runs at a higher tempo than the original. Obstacles no longer arrive one at a time with a breath in between; they come stacked. Some sets want a slash followed instantly by a jump, others simply want you over the top with no swing at all.
What hooks people is that it stops being a game about pressing what you see and becomes one about pressing what is about to appear. The pace is quick enough that pure reaction cannot keep up, so the eye has to look roughly two steps ahead and the hand has to be committed early. Anyone with runner experience adapts fast; newcomers die at a startling rate for the first two minutes.
A ninja against a night backdrop keeps everything legible in a dark palette: the things that need cutting are drawn bright while the scenery sinks away. That design choice is what makes it playable on a small screen without squinting, which matters for a game decided in half-seconds.
