What playing this feels like
Dice give this its face, but what it actually measures is reading speed rather than luck of the roll. A face appears, and the answer to that round's condition has to be given before the short window for it closes.
The trick that works is refusing to count pips one at a time. Human recognition of the fixed arrangement on each face is far quicker than counting, and after a little practice the value registers on sight. That is where the score jumps noticeably without the hands having got any faster at all.
Rounds are extremely short and nothing carries between them, so it fits neatly into gaps between other work — the sort of thing played three times and put down, with none of the unfinished feeling a story-driven title leaves behind.
