What playing this feels like
Filed alongside the matchers, this works on a completely different mechanism. Nothing is swapped with its neighbour; a ball is moved from one square to another along a path that must be clear the whole way, and five in a row is what makes them disappear.
The harsh rule is that any move which fails to complete a line adds a new ball to the grid. A wasted move does not merely cost time — it costs space. Players who lose quickly tend to shuffle balls about without a plan until the grid fills before a single line has formed.
What stretches a game out is keeping the middle open as a thoroughfare and gathering same-coloured balls along the edges, since edge lines occupy less useful ground and block fewer routes. Treating the grid as a road network rather than a pile of colours is the single idea that changes results most.
